Partner – Commercial & Residential Property

Location: Crowborough Firm: Donaldson West LLP Position: Full-time, Office-Based

The Opportunity

Donaldson West LLP is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Property Lawyer to join the firm at Partner level, or a Senior Associate ready to take the next step into partnership.

This is a key strategic appointment within the firm, offering the opportunity to play a leading role in the continued development and growth of both the commercial and residential property practice.

You will join a respected and well-established firm with a strong local reputation, working within a collaborative environment where client service, quality and long-term relationships are central to everything we do.

The Role

You will take responsibility for managing and developing a broad and varied caseload across both commercial and residential property matters, including:

  • Handling acquisitions, disposals, leases, development work and general property transactions from instruction through to completion
  • Managing a diverse residential property caseload with a strong focus on client service and efficiency
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts and preparing a wide range of legal documentation
  • Providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice to clients
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, agents, lenders and other professional contacts
  • Driving business development activity, including networking and identifying new opportunities for growth
  • Supporting, mentoring and supervising junior members of the team
  • Contributing to the strategic direction and continued success of the property department
  • Ensuring high standards of compliance and keeping up to date with legal and regulatory developments

The Candidate

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Extensive technical expertise with a strong track record of managing a broad range of residential and/or commercial property transactions
  • Proven ability to lead complex matters with confidence, exercising sound judgment and delivering commercially astute advice
  • Excellent organisational and strategic planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and oversee matters through to completion
  • A highly client-centric approach, with the credibility and interpersonal skills to build, develop and sustain long-term client relationships
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a proactive approach to business development, networking and identifying growth opportunities
  • Leadership capability, including experience mentoring, supervising and developing junior lawyers
  • The ability to operate both independently and collaboratively, contributing to the wider success and strategic direction of the firm

Private Client Lawyer (3+ PQE)

Location: Crowborough Firm: Donaldson West LLP Position: Full-time, Office-Based

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Lawyer to join Donaldson West LLP, a well-established and highly regarded firm with strong roots in the local community.

This role is ideally suited to a Solicitor or Legal Executive with 3+ years’ PQE who is looking to develop their career within a client-focused environment where high-quality legal work and long-term relationships are genuinely valued.

The Role

You will manage a varied and interesting caseload of private client matters, including:

  • Drafting Wills and advising on estate planning
  • Probate and estate administration
  • Advising on Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Court of Protection matters, including deputyship applications
  • Providing guidance on inheritance tax planning
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships
  • Working closely with an experienced team but also confident working alone

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with 3+ years’ PQE.
  • Have proven experience managing a private client caseload independently
  • Demonstrate excellent client care and communication skills
  • Take a personable, empathetic and professional approach to client work

Location: Crowborough Firm: Donaldson West LLP Position: Full-time or part-time, Office-Based

The Opportunity 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Will Writer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for advising clients on estate planning matters and drafting both simple and complex wills and related documents. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong legal knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills who is passionate about helping clients plan for the future.

The Role:

  • Meet with clients to gather information about their financial and personal circumstances
  • Provide clear advice on will writing, estate planning and related services
  • Draft wills, trusts and other legal documents accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure all documentation complies with current laws and regulations
  • Maintain up-to-date client records and ensure confidentiality at all times
  • Liaise with solicitors, financial advisors and other professionals, when required
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation affecting wills and probate

About you:

  • Previous experience in will writing or estate planning
  • Strong understanding of wills, probate and trust law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
